Joane Assad

Ottawa, ON

Hello, my name is Joane and I'm 29 years old. I started getting involved in my community in Ottawa at a young age, volunteering at church, community centers and on the radio. Since the COVID19 pandemic, I've been more active than ever. I was even awarded a #JeunesEnAction grant to help vulnerable women through the Centre Espoir Sophie. As a young community leader, I'm committed to creating a healthy and inclusive space for women in my community (a cause that's very close to my heart) through various programs, discussion tables and more. My mission on earth is to help and activate change. That's why I'm a young community leader.

Strengthening the resilience and well-being of single mothers

The project: "Strengthening the resilience and well-being of single mothers" aims to empower single mothers aged 18-45 with resilience and well-being skills that will enable them to deal successfully with life's challenges. The project will focus on equipping these women with practical tools and strategies to improve their mental and emotional health, as well as develop a strategic plan for their life goals. The project will include activities such as interactive workshops, mentoring and peer support groups.
