Alexandra Mercado
Alex is an activist and an advocate for community building and civic engagement. She is passionate about mental health advocacy, social justice and health equity, and is a firm believer in taking an intersectional approach when serving her community. She is dedicated to taking an actionable part in collective change and providing opportunities for youth to be empowered to find their voice and engage in the issues that impact them the most.
Dear Future YEG: Summer Series
Dear Future YEG: Summer Series is a 3-part project in which youth in Edmonton are invited to participate in "Walking Club" where we explore accessible and walkable trails in the city, "Too Tired & Two Tired" a social networking event at an indoor cycling studio and a personal hygiene kit making event, and a cooking class night in which participants will learn how to prepare meals safely and easily.

This project strives to support an Edmonton that is youth-centered and diverse. Through the "Walking Club", we strive to bring awareness to trails in the city that are accessible for those using mobility aids, "Too Tired & Two Tired" is a cycling class and a hygiene kit making event, and the cooking classes help to teach basic cooking and preparation skills.

Today, Dear Future YEG is rooted in building an inclusive and accessible community of young changemakers. We empower youth aged 16–35 in Edmonton to grow personally and professionally through meaningful community engagement, while creating space for advocacy and action at both local and global levels.
