Alima Rezai
I am a university student studying Civil Engineering with a strong passion for community service and youth engagement. I began volunteering in Grade 9 and since then, I have contributed more than 2,000 volunteer hours while working with organizations such as the YMCA, CCS, AYEDI and several other non profit organizations. I have also been involved in a variety of community development projects focused on supporting and empowering youth and newcomers. Outside of school and community work, I enjoy reading, writing and creating handmade pearl jewelry. I also enjoy staying active and practice Taekwondo. I hope to continue using my education, experiences and leadership skills to create meaningful opportunities and positive change within my community.
Mathhood Academy
MathHood Academy is a free online learning platform designed to make mathematics education more accessible to Ontario high school students in Grades 9–12 particularly youth facing financial or accessibility barriers. The platform provides Ontario curriculum-aligned lessons, recorded videos, practice questions, downloadable resources and live academic support. MathHood Academy aims to create an organized and supportive learning environment where students can strengthen their math skills, ask questions, build confidence and access quality academic support regardless of their financial circumstances.

By the end of September, the website, app and social media accounts will be created and potential tutors contacted. By mid-October, team members and tutors will be finalized. By the end of November, course materials will be published. The project will conclude by the end of December.

MathHood Academy will reduce barriers to affordable math and science education by providing accessible tutoring and learning resources for Ontario students in Grades 9–12. The project will help students strengthen their knowledge, improve academic confidence and receive additional support, with a focus on newcomer and low income youth.

MathHood Academy’s mission is to make high-quality math and science education accessible to Ontario students in Grades 9–12, particularly newcomer and low-income youth. Through free tutoring, curriculum-aligned courses, recorded lessons, practice materials and online resources, the project aims to improve students’ understanding, confidence, academic performance and access to educational support.
