Araniya Selvarajah

Araniya Selvarajah is passionate about advancing health equity, education, and youth empowerment through community advocacy and service. She is particularly interested in initiatives that improve access to healthcare, promote diversity, and expand educational opportunities for historically underserved communities. Growing up within the Tamil diaspora community, Araniya developed a strong appreciation for the importance of community support, cultural connection, and giving back to the networks that help shape and uplift future generations. She enjoys taking on leadership roles that bring people together, encourage collaboration, and create meaningful impact through learning and service. Araniya is always eager to learn new skills and perspectives that strengthen her ability to advocate for others. Outside of her community work, she enjoys singing, dancing, and playing board games with friends.

Project Aarambam

Project Aarambam is a youth-led initiative that promotes Tamil language preservation through storytelling, literacy resources, and community workshops. The project creates engaging opportunities for diaspora youth to reconnect with Tamil through books, cultural storytelling, and interactive learning experiences. By bringing together youth, families, and community mentors, Project Aarambam aims to strengthen cultural identity, build language confidence, and foster intergenerational connections.

      Project Aarambam will host storytelling workshops, distribute Tamil literacy kits, and share digital learning resources over six months. Activities include virtual and in-person sessions with community storytellers, youth engagement through social media content, and partnerships with local organizations to expand access to Tamil language learning.

      Project Aarambam will support Tamil language preservation by helping diaspora youth engage with their language in accessible and creative ways. The project aims to reach 50–100 participants through workshops, literacy resources, and community events while strengthening cultural pride and intergenerational connection within the Tamil community.
