Jenny Bangoub

I am an Honours Political Science (minoring in criminology) student at the University of Ottawa, with a strong interest in law, human rights, international affairs, and social justice. I am also the Founder and President of Black Women in Law (BWiL), a student organization dedicated to empowering and supporting Black women pursuing legal careers through mentorship, professional development, and community. I am also passionate about leadership and advocacy, and hope to pursue a career in law where I can contribute to meaningful change and help shape a more equitable legal system.

Diversifying the Bar

The purpose of this project is to address the barriers that prevent marginalized students from fully accessing legal education opportunities, not because of a lack of ability, but because of financial constraints, limited access to information, and a lack of structured support. The project aims to make the pathway to law school more accessible by providing students with the resources, guidance, and support needed to navigate the process. Ultimately, it seeks to ensure that law is viewed as a realistic and achievable path rather than one that is inaccessible due to cost or a lack of support.
