Maryam Khalid

Maryam is a student with a passion for making STEM and creativity more accessible in her community. Running Cards for Hope—a handmade watercolour project—since 2022, she has created over 1000 products for local charities by selling, workshops and working with groups like SMILE Canada and McMaster's CanChild. She has also spent years involved in robotics in leadership roles, technical projects, and internships. Maryam is passionate about creating community impact by melding the lines between arts and STEM disciplines, and fostering creativity within youth.

Zobo

Zobo is a modular robotics kit designed to break the cost, black-box learning, and steep skill barriers of traditional robotics education. By combining real circuitry with beginner-friendly design, the project helps youth build foundational engineering skills through hands-on experimentation rather than simply following instructions.

À propos de ce projet

Communautés servies

Voici les objectifs de développement durable associés à mon projet

Les objectifs de développement durable de l’ONU

Il est possible de catégoriser les projets à impact communautaire selon les objectifs de développement durable de l’ONU. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.

      Le fonctionnement du projet

The project involves designing, prototyping, and testing a custom robotics kit over several months. Later, many of these kits will be produced and used in community workshops, wherein participant feedback will be used to improve accessibility, functionality, and long-term scalability.

      Résumé de l'impact

The project increases access to robotics education for youth who may lack funding, prior experience, or existing STEM opportunities. Through affordable kits and workshops, it helps participants develop technical confidence, problem-solving skills, and stronger long-term interest in engineering.

      Résumé de la mission

To create affordable, scalable, and modular robotics kits that reduce financial and knowledge barriers in STEM education. The project aims to make robotics more accessible by prioritizing real circuitry, critical thinking, and design skills for beginner learners.

      Équipe du projet

Independent youth-led project; currently operated and developed by one student founder.
