Rohina Kabir

My name is Rohina and I am a political scientist who has worked toward becoming an AI developer. I believe this intersection can be beneficial in tackling community problems, and I am currently working on Wildfire, a project addressing a major concern in Canada at the moment. I was previously a Daughter of the Vote delegate and have been awarded the Spier Community Grant. I have worked with youth across Canada to build educational materials and host events for youth audiences.

GeoArc WildFire

GeoArc Wildfire is an AI-powered wildfire mitigation platform designed to monitor and consolidate critical needs during wildfire events, such as shelter, food, clothing, and essential medical supplies, to reduce the social and environmental impacts of wildfires. The platform ensures that vulnerable communities are resilient, prepared, and supported throughout wildfire emergencies.

Voici les objectifs de développement durable associés à mon projet

Les objectifs de développement durable de l’ONU

Il est possible de catégoriser les projets à impact communautaire selon les objectifs de développement durable de l’ONU. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.

      Le fonctionnement du projet

The platform integrates AI capabilities to bring all emergency response units into a single, coordinated space. By combining AI with Canadian Census population data, along with remote sensing and GIS technologies. GeoArc Wildfire identifies wildfire-affected areas and assesses the number of people and infrastructure impacted. It then evaluates community needs, determining how much of those needs are being met and where gaps remain.

      Résumé de l'impact

The platform’s potential impact is both social and environmental. Socially, it focuses on protecting lives while ensuring dignity for those affected by wildfires by providing access to shelter, food, clothing, and other essential resources. From an infrastructure perspective, particularly in Indigenous communities, wildfires can be devastating. This project contributes to protecting critical infrastructure that is often destroyed during wildfire events.

      Résumé de la mission

By bringing together predictive technology and community-centered design, GeoArc Wildfire empowers local leaders and families with clear, visual, and real-time tools to protect lives, homes, and ecosystems. The core strength of the platform lies in giving decision-making power back to those most at risk.

      Équipe du projet

The team is structured with community leaders and first responders at the center of the project.
