Samantha Yee

I am an undergraduate Neuroscience student at UBC, passionate about enriching intergenerational connections. I am interested in preserving the richness inherent in cultural heritage, passing on traditions that may have been lost in diasporic communities due to immigration. I would like to create events that bridge often separated youth and senior populations, creating healthier, more resilient communities through the power of social connection and strong relationships.

Mahjong Moments

Mahjong Moments aims to enhance cultural and intergenerational connections by bringing together low income seniors and youth in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside Chinatown. It aims to combat the epidemic of social isolation by creating connections between different groups, and overcoming language and cultural barriers through the joy of playing games!
