I am a young community leader who enjoys working with kids and finding ways to give back to my community. Having grown up in a low-income government housing community myself, I understand some of the challenges families can face when it comes to having the time and resources to prioritize healthy eating. This helped inspire my cooking program, where I want to give kids the opportunity to learn practical cooking skills, nutrition, and kitchen safety while building their confidence and independence. My goal is to create something positive that gives back to a community similar to the one I grew up in.

Kitchen Confidence Program

Kitchen Confidence Program is a hands-on cooking program that teaches kids how to prepare simple and healthy meals while building confidence and independence in the kitchen. Through weekly sessions, participants learn practical cooking skills such as measuring, knife skills, food preparation, kitchen safety, nutrition, and cleaning. The program makes learning about food fun and accessible while giving kids useful skills they can continue practicing at home.

      Le fonctionnement du projet

The Kitchen Confidence Program runs weekly throughout July and August. Each session includes a short lesson followed by hands-on food preparation, cooking, cleaning, and eating together. At the end of the program, kids will take home cooking tools so they have what they need to continue practicing the skills they learned.

      Résumé de l'impact

The Kitchen Confidence Program helps kids build confidence and independence by teaching practical cooking skills they can use on their own. The program gives kids the knowledge and tools to prepare simple, healthy meals without always relying on their parents, especially in families where parents may have limited time to prioritize cooking and healthy eating.

      Résumé de la mission

The mission of the Kitchen Confidence Program is to teach kids practical cooking skills, healthy eating habits, and kitchen safety. My goal is to help kids become confident and independent in the kitchen while developing healthy eating habits early on, since the effects of poor eating habits may not become noticeable until later in life.

      Équipe du projet

My team includes four volunteers who help supervise, support participants, and assist during cooking sessions.
