Ridhwanlai Badmos is a passionate advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in his communities. He actively volunteers with local organizations, food banks, and social justice groups throughout Canada. As a student representative on the Louis-Riel School Division Advisory Board, Ridhwanlai has played a pivotal role in organizing and facilitating the Beyond the Horizon Youth Summit, engaging over 4500 inspired individuals. Through his non-profit organization, Wake Up Mental Health, he leads workshops focused on promoting youth mental well-being. Recognized for his outstanding leadership, service, and community impact, Ridhwanlai has received prestigious accolades including being named a 2023 Loran Scholar and a 2023 TD Scholarship for Community Leadership Finalist. His dedication and contributions have truly made a positive difference in his communities.

Wake Up Mental Health

Wake Up Mental Health (WUMH) is a non-profit dedicated to empowering youth and promoting mental well-being. Through their innovative workshops, they provide students with the tools, support, and knowledge to prioritize their mental health. Led by a passionate team, WUMH creates safe and inclusive spaces where students can openly discuss their challenges and learn valuable coping strategies. With a focus on building resilience and fostering positive change they’re equipping individuals with the skills they’ll need for healthier and happier futures.

How the project works

Wake Up Mental Health conducts transformative workshops for high school students, empowering them with tools and support for mental well-being. These workshops consist of reading, writing, exercise, and art and focus on building resilience and promoting positive change. The timeframe for this project typically aligns with the academic calendar.

Project Impact

Wake Up Mental Health has had a profound impact on destigmatizing mental health. Through their workshops in over 10 schools and counting, they’ve been able to empower youth to actively participate, fostering a broader understanding of mental health. Their efforts aim to create a positive change in how society perceives and addresses mental health, promoting overall well-being and support.

Project Mission

Wake Up Mental Health's mission is to destigmatize mental health and empower youth through education and awareness. Their goals include visiting a multitude of schools across North America, partnering with similar value-driven organizations, and collaborating with social media influencers to raise awareness about mental health and create a supportive environment for young individuals to engage in open conversations and workshops.
