Sara Tam
Kingston, ONSara Tam is the co-founder and facilitator for the Neurodivergent Skill Building Program. Sara has a keen interest and passion in empowering individuals to live well, eat well and be well. Sara is currently fulfilling her mission in her own private practice, Sarativity, where she helps her clients as a nutritionist and health & life coach. The Neurodivergent Skill Building Program is a new branch of her practise where she serves as a neurodivergent affirmative service provider.
Neurodivergent Skill Building Program (NDSB)
The Neurodivergent Skill Building Program is designed by and for individuals with lived experiences to create a safe space where Neurodivergent individuals could be themselves, and be given the patience, accountability, support they need to successfully develop fundamental skills in practical ways. Many neurodivergent individuals did not get the full opportunity to develop these skills in their earlier lives due to the neurotypical standards. We worked towards raising awareness around neurodiversity and creating a better integration of neurotypical and neurodivergent population.

How the project works
We provided neurodivergent adults a safe and supportive space where they could be their authentic selves. We took neurodivergent adults through a 12 week small group coaching program where they created a community where they can safely share, unmask and be themselves while they developed fundamental skills and strategies to achieve their desired goals in a way that works for them. Also, we networked and identified professionals committed to bettering community access. We brought together service providers in social services with lived experience to inform relevant community members about available supports. Finally, we created materials, tools and resources that were used by individuals and advocates supporting those with disabilities as well as people with lived experience themselves.
Project Impact
Here is a testimony which summarizes our impact: "To my surprise, I found myself looking forward to attending each session! Sara was able to break down activities and tools in a simple and easy-to-understand way, which helped me to understand my brain and habits better. I was able to gain a newfound appreciation for myself and made new friends along the way. The program's tools were specifically curated for neurodivergent brains and I found them incredibly helpful and more relatable. If you ever feel like no one understands you, I highly recommend joining this program. Sara and Irina have created a wonderful, supportive, and safe space for individuals to be themselves and learn from each other. Thank you Sara and Irina for all that you do!"
Project Mission
The Neurodivergent Skill Building Program is to help Neurodivergent adults to reconnect with their true self and live an authentic life where they can stop masking in order to better fit in with society. The program provides them with the skills and toolbox to do so.
