Tooba Dawood

Tooba Dawood is the founder of Global Taleem, a dynamic non-profit organization committed to transforming education and empowering youth on a global scale. With a mission to ensure equitable access to quality education for racialized communities (BIPOC, Immigrants and Refugees) Global Taleem works towards eliminating barriers to education and fostering sustainable development. The organization adopts a youth-led approach, actively involving young people from various countries in its initiatives. As a dedicated Youth Mentor and Education Activist, Tooba collaborates with organizations, individuals, and personal connections to establish inclusive and collaborative educational opportunities for young people through Global Taleem and her mentorship program. She offers ongoing mentorship support to youth around the globe, dedicating her time to virtual calls where they can seek guidance on personal and professional development, including leadership and skills growth. Additionally, Tooba hosts monthly webinars on personal and professional development for youth on a global scale. Throughout her journey, Tooba has secured numerous funding opportunities from the Government of Canada to support her projects. She has also participated in delegations, panel discussions, and speaking engagements. Contributing her expertise and experiences, Tooba actively supports various youth-led organizations, empowering others and working towards a better world.

Global Taleem

("Taleem" is an Arabic term that translates to "education") Global Taleem, incorporated under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, is a dynamic non-profit organization with a primary focus on empowering immigrants, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), and refugees through education. We are committed to permanently eliminating barriers to education for these marginalized communities in Toronto and beyond. By providing targeted support, mentorship, and access to quality educational resources, we aim to uplift individuals and enable them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. Through strategic partnerships and advocacy, we work towards creating inclusive and equitable educational opportunities that address the specific needs and experiences of immigrants, BIPOC individuals, and refugees. Through its programs and interventions, Global Taleem brings together youth from diverse backgrounds to participate in upskilling, leadership training, and project management activities aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) of inclusive and equitable quality education. The organization prioritizes addressing the root causes of educational disparities and challenges, aiming to create sustainable solutions and advocate for policy reforms. Global Taleem also emphasizes community engagement and local ownership to ensure the long-term impact and sustainability of its initiatives. Driven by a vision of a global education ecosystem that empowers youth and fosters global citizenship, Global Taleem strives to inspire a global movement dedicated to education and youth empowerment. By mobilizing resources, engaging stakeholders, and embracing innovative approaches, the organization works towards a future where every young person has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and contribute to a better world. Here's an overview of how the project works: Vision and Mission: Global Taleem is guided by a vision of inclusive and equitable education for all, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4). The mission is to empower youth, eliminate barriers to education, and drive positive change in the education sector. Objectives and Strategies: The project sets clear objectives and develops strategies to achieve them. These may include initiatives such as capacity-building programs, awareness campaigns, advocacy efforts, and partnerships with various stakeholders. Collaboration and Partnerships: Global Taleem collaborates with youth organizations, educational institutions, NGOs, government bodies, and other relevant stakeholders. By fostering partnerships, the project leverages collective expertise, resources, and networks to maximize impact. Youth Engagement: The project actively involves youth in its activities and decision-making processes. It provides platforms for young people to voice their opinions, share ideas, and contribute to educational initiatives. This involvement fosters ownership, empowerment, and a sense of agency among youth participants. Program Implementation: Global Taleem implements various programs and activities to address educational challenges and promote quality education. These may include skill-building workshops, mentorship programs, awareness campaigns, research initiatives, and community engagement projects. Monitoring and Evaluation: The project employs monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of its programs and initiatives. This helps identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement, ensuring ongoing learning and adaptation. Sustainability: Global Taleem strives for long-term sustainability by exploring diverse funding sources, establishing partnerships, and developing strategies for financial stability. This ensures the continuation of the project's activities and impact even after the initial funding phase.

Through its collaborative and youth-led approach, the project aims to eliminate barriers to education and promote youth empowerment. By engaging in capacity-building programs, awareness campaigns, advocacy efforts, and strategic partnerships, Global Taleem drives positive change in the education sector. Our Launching Event focused on bringing together youth from across the GTA in a day filled with workshops, networking, a panel and more. 50 young emergent leaders participated in this event.
