Afnane Issa Mohamed
I am a young community leader committed to advancing women's health and fostering connection across generations. As co-founder of Habo Nala Tali, a non-profit that brings together women from minority communities of all ages to build networks and mutual support, I have helped deliver four successful events. I also co-authored a research article on sex bias in endocrinology research, focusing on hormonal biomarkers for PCOS. As an Ambassador with the GLOCAL Foundation of Canada, I represent youth voices and support outreach. Active in university clubs, I am dedicated to community service and to creating equitable spaces for women.
Better health
BetterHealth is a supportive space for women living with health conditions linked to hormones, stress, and chronic illness, such as endometriosis, PCOS, arthritis, and diabetes. Through accessible online content, expert guidance from doctors and nutritionists, and community events, BetterHealth educates women, shares practical tips, and connects them with reliable resources to improve their quality of life.

When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
How the project works
BetterHealth shares expert-led content online and hosts educational events with doctors and nutritionists. Over six months, the team will recruit experts, launch weekly content, and organize workshops offering practical advice on managing hormonal and chronic conditions.
Project Impact
BetterHealth helps women better understand their conditions, access trustworthy medical and nutritional guidance, and feel less isolated. By addressing gaps in women's health information, it empowers participants to make informed decisions, adopt healthier habits, and build supportive networks, ultimately improving their wellbeing and quality of life.
Project Mission
BetterHealth's mission is to empower women living with hormonal, stress-related, and chronic health conditions through trustworthy, expert-led information and a supportive community. Through education, accessible resources, and events, BetterHealth aims to close gaps in women's health knowledge and help women improve their quality of life.
