Ajesh Tharmapalan
I am a passionate young community leader who enjoys using technology, creativity, and collaboration to help others. Through volunteering and leadership opportunities, I have supported community events, helped seniors build digital skills, and worked with others to create positive experiences for people in my community. I believe leadership is not just about taking charge, but about listening, learning, and making sure everyone feels included. I am always looking for new ways to grow my skills and find ways to help others. In past experiences, I noticed that the workshops for seniors have a lot of gaps. Through my project, I hope to make technology more accessible and teach seniors how to be safe, while improving as a leader and creating a lasting impact in my community.
Advocacy and Digital literacy for seniors
This is a digital literacy project which is created to support and educate seniors on the usage of technology for self development, as well as educate them on how to safely use them and avoid scammers.

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
How the project works
We'll begin with a 2-3 hour workshop, covering simple online tasks such as emails, YouTube, and video calls. Then we will talk about various scams and prevention, such as social engineering, and phishing. These will be explained slow and simple, with hands on activities to improve understanding.
Project Impact
The project will help seniors become more confident and independent when using technology. Through hands on workshops, seniors will learn skills that are useful for daily life. We will also teach how to recognize and prevent scams to protect them from online threats. Overall, the desired impact is to reduce the barriers and increase their confidence.
Project Mission
The mission is to make technology and digital literacy more accessible to seniors by providing an easy and safe learning environment. The am is to provide knowledge and support needed to use tech in daily life and giving the basics to continue exploring on their own.
Project Team
I plan on having a small group of around 5 volunteers to help the seniors.
