Amana Noreen

Amana Noreen is a second-year student at the University of Toronto, pursuing a double major in Political Science and Sociology. She is actively involved within her community on campus and beyond through her local youth council, non-profit work, and student groups, advocating for education, social inequalities, and the environment. As the Co-Head of Events at Human Nature Projects (HNP) Canada, a federally registered, youth-led not-for-profit organization dedicated to increasing environmental literacy, she actively hosts many environmental stewardship and educational events, such as tree plantings, invasive plant species removal, a career fair, conferences, and more, focusing on urgent climate-related concerns and youth engagement.

Envisioning Environmental Action: A Collective Youth Congress

Envisioning Environmental Action: A Collective Youth Congress, a one-day in-person conference, aims at critically engaging youth with environmental policies through connecting them with professionals and activists, like-minded peers, and unique perspectives. The event includes a series of presentations, workshops, and a panel session that covers environmental racism, reading policies, local activism, and the considerations made when drafting policies. Through these activities, participants will gain a critical understanding of environmental policies, learn more about urgent environmental issues, and expand their networks.

Envisioning Environmental Action: A Collective Youth Congress is a one-day in-person event that will feature guest speaker presentation, workshops led by policy experts, a panel session, and debate.

      Project Impact

Through connecting youth with environmental activists and exploring policies, the event hopes to support youth’s ability to critically engage with environmental policies, understand the impacts of political decisions, and explore ways to advocate within their communities.

      Project Mission

Our mission is to empower youth to advocate for environmental issues by supporting them in understanding local environmental issues, critically engaging with policy work, and making opportunities more accessible to advocate for change.
