Anna Rzepka

My name is Anna, I am a 4th year medical student at Queen's University. Throughout my educational journey, I have been involved in mentorship and initiatives focused on student connection. During my clinical years of medical school, I have noticed challenges in maintaining a sense of connection and community among medical students who are travelling across the country for clinical rotations. This has inspired me to develop a platform for students to connect and share resources in a centralized fashion. I am grateful for the support of the Sprout Ideas Fellowship to allow this vision to come to life.

MedMap: Connecting medical students through clinical rotations

MedMap is an interactive digital platform designed to connect medical students throughout their clinical rotations. Students can share placement locations and dates to find peers nearby, coordinate housing and rideshares, and build connections while away from their home institution. Following a rotation, students can contribute anonymous reviews and practical tips, creating a shared resource that can be passed between cohorts and help future students plan their own clinical experiences.

    United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

    When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.

      How the project works

      MedMap will be developed as an online platform from September–November 2026, followed by a student pilot from December 2026–January 2027. Students will enter clinical rotation locations, connect with peers, and coordinate housing and transportation. Feedback will be collected through an anonymous survey to evaluate usability and impact.

      Project Impact

      To create an online community for medical students navigating clinical rotations by providing a centralized digital map where students can find peers, share experiences, and access practical support for housing, transportation, and life away from their home institution.

      Project Mission

      To strengthen community and resource access within medical education. The project aims to make clinical experiences more connected and logistically feasible by improving access to peer knowledge and support.
