Crystal Tran

Abbotsford, BC

Crystal is an enthusiastic individual who has always strived to make a positive impact on the community. Being raised in a small town in BC, she was deeply connected to my local neighbourhood. During previous years, Crystal has actively participated in a handful of community initiatives, from volunteering at the local Salvation Army to cleaning up community parks which addressed pressing issues such as poverty, discrimination, and climate change. All in all, Crystal has met some amazing people and was able to bring smiles to their faces, which has further ignited her drive to work harder.

CoastalChange - For Turkey and Syria

The goal of CoastalChange was to use art to tell a story of a current global issue. With designs created by a local artist, it was transformed into tangible art to be sold with all proceeds going to a charity of choice. This time around we decided to target women inequality in the Middle East.

About this Project

My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:

How the project works

The CoastalChange Project collaborated with a local artist to create a line of stickers that tell the story of those in Turkey and Syria.

Project Impact

Through the line of stickers and community booth outreach, CoastalChange connected with many university students to raise awareness. Though we raised money and impacted the original population of choice (humanitarian charities in the Middle East), a local community was formed connecting the student body and clubs on campus to the issue of inequality.

To educate and spread awareness about current global issues through a creative outlet such as art and stickers.
