BIWOC Outdoors Trip
BIWOC Outdoors empowers Black, Indigenous, and Women of Colour through inclusive, accessible, and culturally safe outdoor experiences. By reducing barriers to nature, the project fosters belonging, well-being, and environmental stewardship—reclaiming space for joy, healing, and resistance while creating lasting impact for diverse individuals and the broader movement for equity in the outdoors.

About this Project
Communities Served
My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
How the project works
BIWOC Outdoors organizes accessible and inclusive outdoor experiences—such as canoeing, rock climbing, and hiking—designed for Black, Indigenous, and Women of Colour. Each trip includes culturally safe programming led by trained guides, with gear, transportation, and meals often provided. Activities are paired with workshops on self-care, mental wellness, and community building, creating a holistic space for healing, empowerment, and connection to land and one another.
Project Impact
BIWOC Outdoors fosters confidence in the outdoors, helping participants feel safe, empowered, and connected to nature. The program builds community and lifelong friendships, nurtures green skills, and inspires greater interest in climate action. It also bridges connections between Francophone and non-Francophone Ontarians, creating inclusive spaces where diverse women grow together through shared learning, healing, and joy in the natural world.
Project Mission
Our mission is to create inclusive and transformative environmental leadership opportunities for BIWOC and gender-diverse youth by connecting them with nature, each other, and tools for climate justice, all within a culturally rooted, bilingual, and community-led retreat format.
