Eli Hartman
Eli Hartman is a queer event organizer and artist in Saskatoon, focused on creating queer community events that create safe, accessible spaces for their local 2SLGBTQIA+ population. Based out of Saskatoon, SK, they were born and raised and continue to steward acceptance, inclusion, and understanding of all peopl. They are most proud of their art installations at Nuit Blanche, running a free monthly drag show called Green Beans Open Stage, and of course, working behind the scenes at Queer Compass.
Queer Compass YXE
Queer Compass YXE (QCYXE) is a nature‑based, queer‑led, and community‑run initiative in Saskatoon, SK. We create spaces for 2SLGBTQ+ people to connect, build belonging, and deepen their relationship with each other, themselves, land and water.

About this Project
Communities Served
My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
How the project works
We plan and run outdoor activies for adults 18+ that are completely free, accessible, and connect everyone to the local queer community and to nature.
Project Impact
Through our first year, we have amassed 250+ members that have found lasting connections to each other, skills for environmental stewardship, and queer belonging. We have on average 2-3 events every month from now until March and even more to come beyond that, and we have partnered with over 15 local organizations to contribute to a better society in Saskatoon.
Project Mission
Queer people deserve to feel safe, seen, and joyful in nature. We believe the outdoors should be for everyone, and that reconnecting with land and community is both good for our health and Mother Earth's health. In a world that often tells us we don’t belong, Queer Compass is a reminder: we do—and together we can be a force for nature.
Project Team
We are a local group of Volun-queers that are currently 15 people strong and growing!
