To Seniors With Love - Accessibility Program

To Seniors With Love is a national greeting card initiative that empowers youth to create holiday cards for seniors living in long-term care homes to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness. Cards are accepted in all languages, for all holidays and faiths and contain a heartfelt message. With this program, TSWL aims to make our organization more accessible to seniors with vision impairments and blindness through the use of braille messaging and tactile art.

About this Project

Communities Served

My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:

    United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.

      How the project works

TSWL runs campaigns throughout the year during major cultural holidays and celebrations. Youth volunteers are encouraged to create cards, letters, artwork and poems for the seniors. Cards for any holiday and faith, in any language, are accepted. TSWL distributes the cards to our carefully cultivated national network of long-term care homes.

      Project Impact

Seniors receive personalized cards containing heartfelt messages, reducing feelings of loneliness and showing the seniors that they are valued and culturally connected. With the inclusion of braille messaging and tactile art, seniors with vision impairments and blindness are also included. To date, we have distributed over 15,500 cards across Canada, including to remote facilities in the Territories.

      Project Mission

TSWL creates holiday greeting card campaigns to reduce loneliness and help seniors of diverse cultures feel valued and cared for, with multi-faith cards provided to long-term care residents throughout the year. With the addition of cards that are accessible to seniors who are blind or visually impaired, we hope to be more inclusive of people with disabilities and promote accessibility.

      Project Team

TSWL is led by a team of passionate and enthusiastic social impact leaders.
