Humna Ashfaq

I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a Bachelor of Social Work from York University, with experience in Ontario Works, crisis intervention, mental health, and community support. I am passionate about creating accessible and culturally responsive spaces that promote mental wellness, empowerment, and connection. As a young leader in my community, I am committed to using my experiences and skills to advocate for underserved communities, support women experiencing housing instability, and inspire positive change. Through my work and Siratal Wellness, I hope to continue building initiatives that strengthen communities and make wellness more accessible to everyone.

Siratal Wellness

Siratal Wellness is a community mental wellness and education organization dedicated to making accessible, trauma-informed wellness support available to underserved communities. Initially focusing on women experiencing housing instability, Siratal Wellness provides psychoeducational workshops, wellness programming, and supportive resources that promote resilience, coping skills, empowerment, and connection. Through partnerships with community organizations and mental health professionals, Siratal Wellness aims to bridge the gap between survival-focused services and the emotional well-being of individuals and communities.

About this Project

Communities Served

My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:

    United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.

      How the project works

Siratal Wellness will develop two psychoeducational workshops and one wellness support session, establish partnerships with local shelters and transitional housing organizations, and engage mental health professionals as collaborators. During the first three months, the project will develop resources, conduct outreach, pilot programming, and collect participant feedback to evaluate and improve services.

      Project Impact

Siratal Wellness will improve access to mental wellness education and supportive programming for underserved communities, initially focusing on women experiencing housing instability. Through accessible workshops, wellness resources, and community partnerships, the project will help participants build coping skills, resilience, confidence, and connection while supporting organizations in addressing the often-overlooked mental wellness needs of the communities they serve.

      Project Mission

Siratal Wellness is committed to promoting mental wellness, resilience, and community connection through accessible psychoeducation, wellness education, and community support. We empower underserved individuals, particularly women experiencing housing instability, by creating safe and inclusive spaces to build coping skills, strengthen well-being, access resources, and develop the confidence and tools needed to move toward stability and holistic wellness
