New beginnings initiative is a community event connecting African refugees with settlement resources , employment opportunities and a taste of home in a new country . Attendees leave with a goody bag and access to a resource hub website reminded that someone still sees and cares for them

    When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.

      How the project works

      Over roughly 5 weeks the project moves form research and outreach through logistics to final preparations and promotion culminating in hosting the event itself followed by a review of feedback and continued sharing of opportunities

      Project Impact

      The event eases cultural food insecurity and isolation among refugees by pairing familiar food and shared community with direct access to jobs , settlement services and practical resources. Attendees leave better connected and informed with a resource hub to turn to . This affirms that refugees and newcomers are seen and cared for not just a statistic

      Project Mission

      Mission is to bring the feeling of home to African refugees paired iwth practical guidance for life in Canada . My goal is to host a newcomer event centred on the African community measuring success thought attendee enjoyment and survey feedback
