Jashan Gill
Brampton, ONI am Jashan Gill, founder of Healthy Start, an initiative dedicated to improving access to healthcare, social services, and mental health support for immigrants, refugees, and racialized communities. Growing up in the diverse Peel Region, I witnessed how systemic barriers and stigma prevent equitable access to essential care. I am passionate about dismantling systemic barriers, addressing climate anxiety, and creating culturally safe spaces for healing and resilience-building. My work also extends to supporting people with disabilities through partnerships with community organizations, government, and the private sector to advance accessibility initiatives and inclusive policy solutions. Through culturally responsive workshops, newcomer-friendly health navigation tools, and community-driven environmental healing activities, I aim to empower marginalized youth and families to advocate for their well-being, foster resilience, and thrive. My goal is to create inclusive, equitable systems that ensure every family has the support they need to succeed.
Healthy Start
Healthy Start was born from a vision to ensure that every newcomer and marginalized family feels seen, supported, and empowered in Canada. It bridges gaps in healthcare and social service access through culturally responsive workshops, healing circles, and accessible toolkits, while tackling systemic racism and climate anxiety impacting youth and families. By partnering with community leaders and accessibility advocates, Healthy Start creates safe, inclusive spaces where people can heal, connect, and build resilient futures together.
