Layla Kasim
I am a passionate young community leader and undergraduate Law student at Carleton University, committed to advocacy, community engagement, and creating meaningful change. Through my involvement in student organizations, community outreach, and volunteer initiatives, I have developed strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. I am particularly passionate about bringing people together, supporting underrepresented communities, and creating spaces where individuals feel heard and valued. I believe leadership is not just about holding a position, but about taking initiative, empowering others, and making a positive impact. I hope to continue using my education and experiences to advocate for equity, inclusion, and opportunities for young people in my community.
Between Us
"Between Us" is a community-based initiative dedicated to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and therapy by creating safe, welcoming spaces for open conversations. Through interactive events, anonymous question submissions, and discussions with licensed mental health professionals, the project encourages individuals, particularly youth, to ask questions they may otherwise feel uncomfortable expressing. By promoting education, understanding, and connection, the project aims to make mental health conversations more accessible and empower individuals to seek support without fear of judgment.
