Luther Wemeyi Kayi
My name is Luther Wemeyi, and I am a young community leader and student in Calgary, Alberta. I am passionate about creating opportunities that bring young people and newcomers together, build meaningful connections, and encourage active participation in the community. Through my involvement in community projects and soccer initiatives, I have gained experience in organizing events, engaging youth, working with community partners, and creating welcoming spaces for people from different backgrounds. I believe that young people have an important role to play in shaping stronger and more connected communities. Through the Kickstart Community Soccer project, I hope to use my passion for soccer and community building to create positive experiences, friendships, and opportunities for youth.
Kickstart Community Soccer
Kickstart Community Soccer is a youth-focused community initiative that uses soccer to bring young people together, build friendships, and strengthen community connections. The project will provide an inclusive and welcoming environment where participants can play soccer, develop teamwork and leadership skills, meet new people, and participate in engaging activities. It aims to encourage youth participation, promote inclusion, and create lasting connections among young people from diverse backgrounds.

How the project works
Kickstart Community Soccer will organize weekly soccer sessions leading up to the end of the project. Each session will include warm-ups, skill development, friendly games, teamwork activities, and opportunities for participants to connect. The project will create a welcoming environment that promotes physical activity, friendship, leadership, and community connection.
Project Impact
The project will strengthen connections among young people and families by creating a welcoming space for social interaction, cultural exchange, and community participation. It will help reduce isolation, encourage meaningful relationships, build confidence, and promote a stronger sense of belonging within the community.
