Nadine Ayoub

Nadine Ayoub is a fourth-year Doctor of Dental Surgery student at Dalhousie University with a strong interest in community engagement, health equity, and preventative care. She has been involved in several outreach and leadership initiatives throughout dental school, including interprofessional programs supporting underserved communities. Through her work, she hopes to make oral health education and resources more accessible while promoting the connection between oral and overall health.

Health in Hand

Health in Hand aims to improve access to preventive health resources for underserved and marginalized communities, including long-term care facilities, schools, and shelters. The project will distribute approximately 400 care kits containing oral hygiene supplies, educational materials, affordable dental resource information, sunscreen, and SPF lip balm. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, the project will promote oral and overall health while helping individuals better understand when and where to seek care.

    When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.

      How the project works

      Over three months, we will develop educational materials, purchase supplies, and assemble approximately 400 preventative health kits containing oral hygiene and UV-protection products. In late October, the kits will be distributed through a one-time delivery to long-term care facilities, schools, and shelters.

      Project Impact

      Health in Hand will improve access to practical preventive health resources for underserved communities by supporting oral health literacy, sun safety, and awareness of available care options. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and community partnerships, the project aims to help individuals make more informed health decisions, adopt preventive habits, and connect with appropriate services before concerns become more serious.

      Project Mission

      Health in Hand aims to improve oral and overall preventive health among underserved communities through accessible education, practical health resources, and interdisciplinary collaboration. By distributing care kits, promoting oral health and sun safety, and sharing information on available dental services, the project seeks to strengthen health literacy, encourage preventive habits, and support earlier connections to appropriate care.
