Nasra Ibrahim Hussein
At every stage of my life, I've been active in my community. From a young age I volunteered and took part in community activities, and that has carried through as I've grown. I love giving back and being involved in things that bring people together, and I hope to keep growing as a leader in my community.
Career Day
Career Day is an Ottawa career fair that gives racialized and marginalized youth the chance to talk with professionals from similar backgrounds. Instead of collecting pamphlets, students have real conversations at booths, panels, and one on one sessions across fields like tech, healthcare, trades, law, and the arts. It's free, built with community organizations youth already trust, and organizers hope it becomes an annual tradition that leaves young people feeling less lost about what comes next.

About this Project
Communities Served
My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
How the project works
Career Day is will be an annual event, next one set for November 2026. Leading up to the day, organizers recruit professionals and partner with community organizations for outreach and support. On the day, youth choose booths for one-on-one conversations with professionals in fields that interest them, and can pop into workshops.
Project Impact
Career Day gives racialized and marginalized youth direct access to professionals from similar backgrounds, at a stage when many are unsure what paths are available to them. By replacing pamphlets with real conversations, youth leave feeling more informed and connected, better equipped to make confident decisions about their education, training, and career paths, and a little less lost about their future.
Project Mission
Career Day's mission is to give racialized and marginalized youth direct access to professionals from similar backgrounds, built on the belief that representation matters. Too many young people make major decisions about their future without ever speaking to someone in the field. Our goal is to broaden their horizons, connect them to industries, and help them pursue their futures with confidence.
