Spotlight Stories

Spotlight Stories is a community acting and storytelling program for immigrant and newcomer youth (16–30) in Toronto. The goal is to help young people build confidence, communication skills, creativity, and a sense of belonging through acting workshops and storytelling exercises. At the end of the program, participants perform a community showcase where they present scenes, monologues, and stories they’ve developed.

    When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.

      How the project works

      Over approximately 4–5 months: Recruit 20–30 youth participants Run weekly acting and storytelling workshops Bring in guest actors and facilitators Help participants create performances Host a final community showcase Collect feedback and measure impact

      Project Impact

      The project uses acting as a tool to help participants find their voice and build leadership skills.

      Project Mission

      Goal 1 Recruit at least 20 participants. Goal 2 Deliver 8–10 acting/storytelling workshops. Goal 3 Host a final showcase attended by at least 50 community members. Goal 4 Have at least 80% of participants report increased confidence and communication skills.

      Project Team

      A group of yougn individuals passionate about about not only acting and the world of performance, but also empower others through the art medium.
