Pablo Gaytan Melendez
Pablo Gaytan is a multi disciplinary artist based in Montreal. Born in Mexico and raised through his teens in Ottawa, Canada. Through years of being a photographer, and his past year of being a DJ, he is active and constantly engaged with his community. His methods of organization are grassroots forward and he aims to always work for the social benefit of the Latin diaspora. As director of PLZRS he has been organizing social events within the Latin community for over 3 years across cities such as Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal.
PLZRS
PLZRS is a Latin collective based in Montreal focused on providing the Latin diaspora with social experiences authentic to those that they would encounter back home in terms of music curation, gastronomy and community. It's goal is to engage their community through media and events alike. The collective views itself as a bridge for the community in North America and the contemporary movements of Latin American culture and art.

About this Project
Communities Served
My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.
How the project works
The project being funded aims to produce a large event for the Latin community in Montreal that is safe and inclusive while presenting a high quality lineup of artists and performers including live music as well as DJs, dancers and performance artists. Food vendors on site and a bar menu will be curated specifically for our audience.
Project Impact
The event will provide an authentic experience where our audience will be transported to home and encouraged to celebrate their culture and roots as a collective experience. The impact that we aim to achieve is to create a safe space for networking and community building where our audience can blossom while representing their Latin American identity. A secondary impact will also be to further establish PLZRS and to broaden our scope and reach to be able to maximize our impact for our next high season; Summer 2027.
Project Mission
Our mission is to connect our audience with contemporary arts and culture in Latin America while promoting unity and solidarity here in North America for Latin diaspora.
Project Team
My team includes myself and my colleague Manuela, together we will see the project through from beginning to end and will onboard volunteers and contractors for the work necessary.
