Winston Victor Wei Chow

Winston is a UBC student studying Neuroscience and is passionate about making healthcare and community spaces more accessible and supportive for young people. His experiences engaging with children, coaching students, and working in community programs have shown him the importance of meeting people’s practical and emotional needs. He co-founded Peace Packs after seeing how isolating and overwhelming difficult healthcare experiences can feel.

Peace Packs

Peace Packs is a youth-led initiative that creates thoughtful care packages for children and youth experiencing hospitalization, housing insecurity, or other difficult circumstances. Each package combines practical necessities with comforting and engaging items, such as hygiene products, sensory tools, journals, and activities. The project works with volunteers and community partners to assemble and distribute packages where they are most needed, helping recipients feel supported, cared for, and less alone during challenging moments.

About this Project

Communities Served

My project will involve and/or impact the following communities:

    United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

When it comes to community impact projects, the UN has created 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These are the Sustainable Development Goals associated with my project.

      How the project works

Peace Packs designs, funds, assembles, and distributes themed care packages containing hygiene, sensory, and recreational items. Volunteers organize donations and packing sessions, while the team partners with healthcare and community organizations. In 2026–27, Peace Packs aims to assemble 450 packages and expand partnerships across British Columbia.

      Project Impact

Peace Packs has delivered more than 600 care packages to children, youth, and families in British Columbia and Ontario. Packages have reached BC Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald House, providing practical items and small sources of comfort during stressful experiences. The project also gives youth volunteers opportunities to contribute directly to their communities.

      Project Mission

Peace Packs aims to make difficult experiences a little more manageable by providing children and youth with practical, comforting care packages. The project seeks to reduce feelings of isolation, support dignity and well-being, and connect young volunteers with healthcare and community organizations to deliver meaningful, accessible support.
